Phuket is heaven for kids! If you have never been to Phuket and assume that this destination is just not right for a family holiday – you are wrong!
Apart from beautiful beaches, Phuket has a lot to offer for families with small children. We all know that our toddlers are a particular type of humans that need to be entertained daily but also kept safe at all times. I came up with a list of quality activities that we love to do with my son on a regular basis. Just so you know, we can be quite picky about the places we go, as good parents we try to be on top of all the hygiene and safety aspects.
Below you will find the list of activities that by our standards are safe and your kids will enjoy while on holiday in Phuket.
The famous Phuket water park is a number one on my list as no doubt it is our favourite activity to do with our son. A fantastic thing about that place that you can go there during any weather. We actually prefer going there on rainy days as there is less risk of getting sunburnt between applying sunscreen.
Apart from big water slides, the park has two big sections dedicated just to the little ones. Just recently, the park went under renovation and added to their collection a SPA-center for little kids! Trust me. It is the place to visit, so make sure you add it to your list.
P.S Out of all the dining options, I recommend going for their pizzas. They’re delicious, and after trying most of what their menu offers, they are by far the best quality and value for a family.
Lemonade Wellness Club is a relatively new place in Thalang. The club has got everything you need for a relaxing and affordable family day out. On the club’s territory, you will find a kid’s zone that has an indoor and outdoor play area. It also comes with a big pool and day beds where parents can relax while watching their tots. Additionally, the club runs a variety of classes for kids of different ages from gymnastics to singing, so make sure you check out the schedule on their facebook page.
While the kids are busy having fun parents can pay just a little extra to do something fun themselves. The club offers a great herbal steam sauna, big size jacuzzi and an ice bath. Also, you can treat yourself to a nice massage at their SPA centre. All the facilities are nice and clean. If you are coming with your partner who you can alternate with the baby watching role, then I recommend you to use the facilities to the max. You won’t be disappointed. Finish the day with a healthy meal or a cheeky drink at the bar. This place is your one stop shop!
Rawai kids park is another great water park suitable for kids from 1-6 years old. They also have an indoor and outdoor playground along with a family restaurant. Apart from the main play areas, you can also spend your time relaxing in the garden while watching your child playing in the sand area or climbing the rope tower. Additional to that, they offer family events every weekend where your kids can play games hosted by the clowns and other fun characters. This park has a lot to offer and works out a bit cheaper than a day at the Splash Jungle Water Park.
In my opinion, Rawai park is more suitable for babies as the water is more shallow and the slides are not as big and intense as the one in the Splash Jungle Water Park.
If you and your partner are looking for a more sophisticated way to spend a day with your little one, I have some excellent options for you. Not many people who travel to Phuket realise that the island has a lot of beach clubs where you can bring your kids and enjoy their delicious food and high-end service. Even though most of them allow kids, it doesn’t mean that all of them are suitable for very little ones. I’ve selected three best beach clubs that are most suitable for little kids and tagged them below.
Dream Beach Club is our favourite destination when we are in the mood for a good beach party. Their pool is divided into two areas, and one of them is dedicated to parents and their children. Every Sunday they serve a delicious brunch combined with good music and refreshing drinks. Trust me. You don’t want to miss out!
The famous franchise Cafe del Mar is a popular spot when it comes to beach parties and dining experiences. The place is very stylish and attracts all sort of people, so during high season expect their pool to be occupied most of the times. Every Saturday and Sunday during the day they host a brunch with a variety of kids activities, so all families are welcome to enjoy their fantastic venue and great services.
This stunning location would ideally suit someone who is looking for some quality beach time. This beach club doesn’t have a pool but has beautiful views and a great outdoor play area for the kids. It is situated right on the beach so if you want to get some tan and have a swim in the sea, you can rent out a day bed. Just keep in mind that they serve mostly Thai food and some basic finger food. If you are into that, then excellent time with the family is guaranteed.
There is a variety of good play centres spread across Phuket that you might want to check out. Most of them you would find at big shopping malls or as independent shops in popular areas.
Central Festival Phuket. Kidspace is located on the G Floor at the Central Floresta Phuket. It’s an indoor playground for children ages 3-12 years old. It’s a very colourful fun and safe space to play. Just be aware that it’s situated right next to the big toy shop that your kids might want to visit too!
Tesco Lotus Plaza. A lot of big Tesco shops have play corners dedicated for children to play while their parents have something to eat at the food court. If you are worried about hygiene, trust your intuition. From our experience, the play areas always neatly cleaned and all kids use the antiseptic gel before entering a playground.
Jungceylon Shopping Mall in Patong. The Kidzoona is located on the 3d floor. If your beloved ones are tired from shopping, send them there to play and chill while you run a marathon from one shop to another.
Please note, that most play canters would want supervising parents to wear clean socks, so bring your own pair or purchase at the entry.
The Kids Club Phuket. The Kids Club has positioned itself as the biggest indoor playground in Patong. The club has a reading corner with internet access for the parents to relax.
Kids Mania. This club is situated at one of the most beautiful parts of Phuket – Royal Phuket Marina. If you are planning on visiting this area, make sure you take some good pics.
This place will be especially fun for parents and their kids that are really into their dinosaurs. The park is used as a mini-golf course, but if your child is too small to play this game, you can still walk through the park to look at the statues for a reduced price. The park was very well looked after and nicely presented. We have only been once there, and our son loved it. After the walk, we had lunch at the Dino restaurant. The food was great, and we felt very welcomed. Overall experience was very pleasant. We will be going back there when our son is a bit older to enjoy mini-golf.
The whole park is covered in greenery, so if you are planning on spending some time there, make sure to bring a mosquito repellent with you.
Beach play and swim
A day at the beach with kids is always a good idea. It’s fun for the whole family without many unnecessary expenses. It’s safer to visit a beach at low tide, here is a link for the Phuket tide forecast. The beaches in Phuket that in my opinion are suitable for little kids are:
Nai Harn beach.
Nai Yang beach.
Mai Khao beach. ( This beach is situated right by the airport and is very popular for a plane spotting which all kids enjoy. )
